Council of Directors

Purpose

To act in the name of and for the Congregation on any and all matters which are not specifically reserved for the Congregation.

Basic Objectives

To conduct the business of the Congregation when the Congregational Voters Assembly is not in session.

Board of Elders

Purpose

To aid the Pastor in the spiritual care of the members.

Basic Objectives

  1. Shepherding of all congregational members.
  2. Ensure that sound doctrine is taught, preached and practiced.

Education Committee

Purpose

To provide Christian education opportunities to members of all ages

Basic Objectives

That everyone, through the Word and Sacrament, know God and His love in Christ.

Sub-Committee of Education - Sunday School

Purpose

To provide a Scripturally-and Confessionally-based Christian Education program for children ages 3 years through high school, year-round.

Basic Objectives

To faithfully aid the teaching of the Holy Scriptures to the children by attending to the various details needed to operate smoothly.

Sub-Committee of Education - Vacation Bible School

Purpose

To provide a Scripturally-and Confessionally-based educational program for children ages 3 years through the 6th grade during the summer.

Basic Objectives

To faithfully aid the teaching of the Holy Scriptures to the children by attending to the various details needed to operate smoothly.

Sub-Committee of Education - Weekday Education

Purpose

To provide an educational program during the school year for children in 1st grade through 6th grade for a specified time during the week.

Basic Objectives

Sub-Committee of Education - Adult Bible Study

Purpose

To work in supporting continuing education in the Word of God for the adults of the congregation.

Basic Objectives

To reach out to the adult membership in an effort to reinforce the importance of Adult Bible study, and seeking to increase attendance.

Sub-Committee of Education - Library

Purpose

To support the congregation by providing books, videos, etc., for congregational use.

Basic Objective

To maintain, together with the Pastor and/or Elders, Scripturally-and Confessionally-sound materials in the library, in an orderly fashion.

Sub-Committee of Education - Scholarships

Purpose

To provide monetary scholarships to the members of the congregation attending synodical schools.

Basic Objectives

To help the members of the congregation attending synodical colleges/universities, parochial elementary/high schools receive a Christian education by giving them a designated monetary scholarship.

Evangelism Committee

Purpose

Manage the Evangelism programs. Discover and develop any evangelistic talents within our members and cause them to extend into the community.

Basic Objectives

Promote evangelism from within the congregation and to spread the Gospel to unchurched and prospective members.

Finance Committee

Purpose

To manage the financial resources.

Basic Objectives

Sound, responsible financial management.

Missions Committee

Purpose

To promote support of current and long-range goals for local and world-wide missions.

Basic Objectives

Having the Congregation informed of the Congregation, Circuit, District, and Synod mission programs.

Property Committee

Purpose

To manage the physical property

Basic Objectives

To adequately maintain the property so that its value, aesthetics, and function are preserved.

Social Welfare Committee

Purpose

To assist needy individuals and manage social activities.

Basic Objectives

  1. Identify and assist needy families within the congregation.
  2. Provide liaison of all activities of all organization within the congregation that do not operate under another committee.

Special Committee - Audit

Purpose

To provide a general audit of the congregation and its auxiliary organizations annually.

Basic Objectives

To, through an audit of the congregation's financial records, determine that appropriate accounting methodology is being employed and that the monies are being spent according to the declared interest and purpose of the congregation.

Special Committee - Gifts

Purpose

To assist the Council in managing special gift (i.e. memorial) to the congregational in a manner which is both God-pleasing and beneficial to the congregation.

Basic Objectives

To make recommendations to the Council as to the best and most proper use of memorial money gifted to the congregation (taking into consideration the expressed feelings of those contributing the monies).

Stewardship Committee

Purpose

To promote good and wise use of congregational members' time, talents, and treasures.

Basic Objectives

To make all members aware of their stewardship responsibilities to the Congregation, District, and Synod. To help members become active in, and a part of the life of the parish.

Worship Committee

Purpose

To oversee and manage the equipment/schedules necessary to insure God-pleasing worship

Basic Objectives

  1. Oversee the maintenance of all worship services relative to equipment and supplies.
  2. Scheduling of assignments necessary to conduct worship services.

Youth Committee

Purpose

To manage the youth program.

Basic Objectives

  1. To provide direction, leadership, training and focus for the total parish youth program.
  2. To develop a sense of Christian fellowship within the Youth Program.
